This memoir has a two-fold purpose. It is my record of my life that I present to my progeny and other family members. It is also a teaching tool for myself and others to use in preparing young adults for adulthood. For both groups, education is and always will be the key to future success. That is what I have tried to impart unto younger generations during family reunions, social settings, community activities, church programs, and other undertakings. That is also what I focused on during 30+ years of educating young adults in public schools and colleges throughout the United States. My focus was not just on academic success, but also presenting them with skills that they could use to overcome social, occupational, health, and other challenges that will ultimately present themselves in the future. In imparting my life’s story, I reference sage advice received from others, words of wisdom spoken by renown world leaders, and The Word as presented in the Holy Bible. And I do so unapologetically!
